The installation using the SIDING-MASTER™ on the job in Thorton, CO was interesting and educational. As you know, on this job 1 sidewall was installed using the strips and the opposite sidewall was installed using standard nailing. The installer has years of experience and actually was willing to try the SIDING-MASTER™ Strips.

When I arrived at the job site, the strips were being installed over the insulation and we were soon ready to start putting the siding panels on the strips. Initially, the panels seemed difficult to attach, but after doing a couple it became second nature. Pulling the fingers down in the middle of the nail slot was really easier than i have imagined although I would recommend designing a tool which would be easier than a pliers. The panels hung straight and each seam was tight and in my view, was better looking than the standard method using nails. There was no extra techniques or attention required at the seam as each fit well.

The wall we used the SIDING MASTER™ on did contain a couple of bows. We were able to back the screws out about 1.5'' on one strip and completely level one section of the wall. When the siding was hung on the strips, we had a "perfect wall" that was straight and level. This could have never been accomplished by floating a nail due to the amount of bow. This leveling process took a matter of minutes and required very little skill. Overall, I saw that the strips would be a benefit in time savings, although the installer we used told me he felt he could install this wall as fast using nails. Personally, I felt that if he used the strips on a couple of jobs he would see a reduction in time. However, in my view, the SIDING-MASTER™ Strips will allow an inexperienced installer to install straighter walls than most seasoned veterans. The benefit here is that I believe the use of this Siding Master will eliminate 95% of the call backs contractors experience because this installation technique eliminates errors.

I also believe that the use of screws holding the strips will allow this product to be more wind resistant than normal nailing. Plus the fact that there are no nails and no pounding, which is usually associated with installing vinyl siding. When one adds in the reduction of time during installation and the "no call back" advantages... this is a "no brainer". This installation system will add professionalism to our industry and will allow contractors to hire less experienced labor.
